Cabárceno isn’t just a place to explore its spectacular Nature Park: the surrounding area also offers plenty to do for lovers of nature, the sea and sport. You can go on local hiking trails, such as the climb to Lake Acebo or the Pozos de Valcaba, ideal for those who enjoy walking through forests and valleys.
If you prefer cycling, the Vía Verde del Pas offers peaceful, well-signposted routes between villages such as Astillero, Obregón and Sarón, perfect for bike rides for both beginners and more experienced cyclists. Cabárceno also offers experiences with electric bikes or interpretive trails to see everything at a different pace.
As for the sea, nearby you’ll find spectacular beaches such as those at Liencres, with their landscape of dunes and cliffs, Mataleñas in Santander, or Langre beach. You can also visit prehistoric caves of great archaeological value or, in season, enjoy the Alto Campoo ski resort, located just over an hour away.

Cabárceno Nature Park is much more than just a zoo: it is a unique place where nature, adventure and education come together in a spectacular setting. Across its 750-plus hectares, you can explore karst landscapes by car, bike or on foot, observing animals in semi-freedom such as elephants, giraffes, bears, rhinos and big cats. In addition, the park has a cable car offering stunning panoramic views, allowing you to enjoy the vastness of the Cantabrian landscape from above. There are also displays featuring birds of prey and sea lions, ideal for learning about wildlife and conservation in a fun way.
